‘I’m the only person in our family who does art. I loved it from a very young age. I remember the art teacher called my mom and told her that I had made a fantastic play-doh sculpture. It’s one of the most vivid memories I have from kindergarten. I was very anti-social, I didn’t have any friends, so I just spent all my time drawing. That was and still is my happiness – music and drawing,’ says Laura cheerily (you certainly do not get the impression she is the introvert she says she is).
‘Then one summer my mother bought me a canvas and from there I got into colours. I painted my family and friends, and they were so impressed that they started buying my portraits. After that, when I finished 12th grade, I had to choose what to study in Uni. Though I chose the wrong subject. I wanted to get into Latvia’s biggest art school but there were only a limited number of places, so I did not get in. Instead, I went into interior design,’ she adds.
