'Putting Pen to Paper' by Michelle
When I put pen to paper, When I allow time to reflect and think,
Torrents of words come teeming out, flowing through the ink.
Thoughts never before articulated, Feelings long suppressed,
Memories, dreams and disappointments, never previously addressed.
Words unbidden, spill unchecked to saturate the page,
Expelling deep emotions of joy, grief, sorrow, and unexploded rage.
A myriad of words unspoken, unclaimed and denied,
Now cannot be retracted, the ink is set and dried.
Incoherent thoughts, inner turmoil impossible to gage,
Miraculously unravel when written on the page.
When I put pen to paper,
When I stop to reflect and think, I am so very grateful I can express my thoughts in ink.
