It’s a fine summer’s day and the sun has been shining brightly across the rugged landscape of north western Scotland all morning. Below the cliffs and fields, two kayakers are making their way through the waters of the Irish Sea, the waves glistening in the sunshine as they wash against the rocky shoreline, reflecting the light blue colours of the clear sky above. But this is not to last. As the kayakers gaze out to sea, they can see that a weather front is coming in. Thick clouds are converging in the distance, becoming darker as they morph into one large grey phantom ready to block out the sun. Suddenly there’s a chill in the air as a deluge of rain begins to descend from the clouds in the ever-nearing distance and, whilst the light from the disappearing sun is still visible, it’s now only minutes away from being engulfed by the darkening shroud of clouds.
