Featuring: Art from Heart

Art from Heart's TERRA Exhibition, hosted and photographed by the Espacito Gallery

Whilst observing the works of Judit Prieto within this edition, you might have noticed that an organisation called 'Art from Heart' was mentioned. A women-led non-profit organisation, Art from Heart curates and promotes artists, and exhibitions that have a socio-cultural purpose- and one of which it strongly advocates for is the environment. Each month for instance, they host an 'Artists of the Month' award, whereby they present the work of 3-4 selected artists on their platform. What furthermore makes Art from Heart a great feature here in this regard, is that the artists that they select each month, although each artist selected has a socio-cultural underlying theme their works are always shown through various mediums, from paintings, digital collages to photographs. Moreover, given Art from Heart's Artivist emphasis it may not come as a surprise that Judit is in fact one of its founders!

A few months ago, whilst Art Etc's coming editions were being mapped out, we so happened to come across Art from Heart on social media, where we got talking with another one of it's founders, Beatriz Perez. In an incredibly thoughtful act, Beatriz decided to send us a pitch via email for a theme for the magazine - The Artivists. She was even so passionate about the idea we were forming that Beatriz provided Art Etc with the artists in which to base it's themes for this edition upon, and it's fair to say that each and every one of them were a delight to interview.

Founded in 2019, Art from Heart have since helped with a wide array of artists and charities by providing them with a platform in which they can express themselves and network, be it online or on the floor of an event.

Moreover, this is an organisation which is genuinely passionate about pushing for environmental change. It was obvious after speaking to Judit for instance, that these are people who want to make a difference and send a message; be it through endorsing sustainable artistic practices, reusing materials for art or otherwise or by highlighting the beauty of the natural world ana the human threat It currently faces. In accordance with this ethos, Art from Heart recently hosted an exhibition in London called TERRA.

19th and the 23rd of October, was one which presented the works of 47 multimedia artists who addressed climate change through their works. The artists, most interestingly, consisted of 3 main categories; all of which were covered as the 3 main themes in this magazine - reusage, nature and sustainable art practices. Curated by Judit Prieto and running across two floors in the Espacio Gallery, the exhibit allowed audiences to ponder over a diverse array of artworks and most importantly engage with the climate crisis through Artivism. As Art from Heart stated prior to the event:

"These 47 "Earth Ambassadors" with their poetic yet poignant creative approaches to the theme TERRA, aim to engage the public with environmental issues through the arts and to inspire and empower more artists and audiences to engage and respond to the climate crisis, rather than being passive observers, as the climate emergency accelerates"

With special thanks to Judit Prieto and Beatriz Perez, who have been a delight to collaborate with in the making of this edition - 'The Artivists'.
