People's hobbies and professions often start with a family member. For it nearly always seems the case that the sons and daughters of doctors, artists and actors, inspired and directed by their parents, become doctors, artists and actors themselves.
Though, like me, and many of the other creatives that have featured within this publication who love to paint and sculpt, there are exceptions to this trend. I am the only one out of a family of teachers and engineers who loves to write. Andy also possesses a different set of interests to that of his family.
‘I didn’t grow up around artists. There is a streak of creativity within my family but no artists in the family,’ Andy tells me. ‘So what inspired you?’ I ask.
‘I don’t think that there is any one thing that inspired me to get into art. I have always looked at the work of other painters and this is usually my inspiration for wanting to paint. It is just something that I have always wanted to do,’ he replies.
