Hello! Hasn’t this summer felt like a whirlwind? Between the school summer holidays, our daughter’s preparations for university and our son enjoying his 6 weeks off before tackling his GCSEs, time seems to have flown by. The library has been buzzing with the annual Summer Reading challenge; it is a highlight for our library service, and at our Branch we eagerly await the children’s happy faces, talking about their books, gaining their achievement stickers and partaking in the in-library activities, which for example included art classes in painting trees by using their hands. By the end of the summer, I found I was craving moments of calm, seeking them wherever possible. For me Nature, whether it’s a coastal walk, time in my garden, or a walk around country house gardens, always brings me a sense of peace.
