Growing up in Reading, Jennifer was often told by her art teacher that she had a natural artistic flair. The city of London itself also, though rather surprisingly given the nature themes within her works, continues to be an inspiration for her art. ‘I frequently visited London to attend art exhibitions and museums. London remains an inspiration for me but I’m not sure I could live there though, too much hustle and bustle! I’m sure I would prefer to live in the countryside surrounded by beautiful wildlife.’
Yet it seems as if it was her grandfather that truly inspired her to express her emotions through art. ‘My earliest memory of creativity was as a child visiting my grandparents’ house when they used to get out the jar of coloured pencils. My grandad was a landscape painter, and I always used to love seeing his artworks scattered around the walls of the house and his impressive collection of paint brushes. We also used to work on artworks together. I remember I painted my first ever landscape with him around age 10. He painted most of it, but he insisted that I was the one who signed it, so I guess that was my first feeling of being an artist!’ Jennifer exclaims.
